The exposome provides a framework for understanding the totality of environmental influences and associated biological responses that shape health throughout life.
Rather than examining one exposure at a time, exposome science considers how multiple physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial influences interact, accumulate and change over time.
This broader perspective can help identify important drivers of health, improve understanding of vulnerability and resilience, and support more effective approaches to prevention.
Health Is Shaped by More Than Genetics and Healthcare
Understand
Connect
Translate
Bring together evidence on the environmental, occupational, lifestyle and social factors that influence health.
Create opportunities for researchers, institutions and other stakeholders to exchange expertise and develop shared priorities.
Support the responsible translation of exposome knowledge into research agendas, prevention strategies and public health dialogue.
From Evidence to Meaningful Action
UNDERSTANDING THE EXPOSOME
General External Exposome
The broader environments and social conditions in which people live, including climate, air quality, the built environment, socioeconomic conditions, communities and other place-based influences.
Specific External Exposome
More direct individual exposures and behaviors, including diet, physical activity, occupation, chemicals, medications, tobacco, alcohol, sleep and other everyday influences.
Internal Biological Responses
The biological processes through which external influences interact with the body, including metabolism, inflammation, the microbiome, molecular responses and other measurable biological changes.
These dimensions are interconnected and dynamic, shaping health differently across individuals, populations and stages of life.
From Our Environment to Our Biology

WHAT WE DO
Advancing Exposome Knowledge in Vietnam
Evidence and Landscape Mapping
Identify and synthesize relevant evidence, research capabilities and knowledge gaps related to exposures and health in Vietnam.
Research Readiness and Methods
Support the development of research priorities, study concepts, measurement approaches and responsible data frameworks.
Education and Capability Building
Make exposome concepts and methods more accessible through educational resources, professional dialogue and multidisciplinary knowledge exchange.
Collaboration and Translation
Connect Vietnamese and international expertise and support the responsible translation of exposome knowledge into research and prevention.

Exposome science is inherently multidisciplinary and context dependent. Exposome Vietnam seeks to connect international science and emerging methods with the environmental, occupational, social and health realities of Vietnam.
Our current priorities are evidence development, stakeholder engagement, capability building and the development of credible collaborative activities.
We welcome dialogue with researchers, universities, health and environmental organizations, data specialists and other partners interested in advancing exposome science and prevention in Vietnam.
